Following the growth of our Northern team, SASS is inviting a compassionate and skilled Therapeutic Specialist to join us across North and North-West Tasmania.

About the role
Our statewide program provides individualised, evidence-based therapeutic support, addressing the underlying drivers of harmful sexual behaviours while strengthening safety and connection within families. You will be part of a connected, trauma-informed team that values reflection, collaboration, and care supported by strong clinical governance.
As a Therapeutic Specialist, you will:
- Deliver trauma-informed, developmentally appropriate therapeutic interventions
- Deliver trauma-informed therapeutic interventions to children, young people, and their families who have experienced harmful sexual behaviours
- Hold a manageable caseload of clients
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and key stakeholders to provide holistic support
- Advocate for child safety and uphold the Child and Youth Safe Standards Framework
- Engage in regular supervision and reflective practice to support your growth and wellbeing
About you
You’re an experienced clinician who can balance empathy with clear boundaries and sound clinical reasoning. You’re comfortable working with complexity and committed to making a genuine difference in the lives of young people and their families.
You will bring:
- Experience working with complex trauma, harmful sexual behaviours, or victim-survivors of sexual harm
- Knowledge of working with children and young people, including neurodiversity, disability, and/or family systems
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in counselling, psychology, or social work, with eligibility for AHPRA, APS, AASW or PACFA membership
- A strong commitment to child-safe, inclusive, and respectful practice
- Confidence in applying trauma-informed therapeutic approaches
- A current National Police Check and Working with Vulnerable People registration
