specialist multidisciplinary team delivering impactful mental health care to
vulnerable young people across North Queensland.
An exciting
opportunity is available for a Psychologist to join the North
Queensland Adolescent Forensic Mental Health Service (AFMHS). Based in
Townsville, this role provides flexible, evidence based clinical services to
adolescents with mental health and substance use challenges who are involved
in, or at risk of entering, the youth justice system.
Working across
a variety of settings, including community outreach, Courts, Watch Houses and
Youth Detention Centres, you will contribute to improving outcomes for young
people with complex and high-risk presentations.
About
the Opportunity
The Adolescent
Forensic Mental Health Service provides expert assessment, treatment and case
management for young people engaged with the justice system across North
Queensland.
In this role,
you will:
- Deliver comprehensive mental
health assessments, intervention and case management for
adolescents with complex needs
- Provide clinical services across community,
custodial and court settings, including Cleveland Youth Detention
Centre
- Contribute to forensic risk assessment
processes
- Provide consultation, liaison and education to
families, stakeholders and partner agencies
- Manage a varied caseload,
working independently in routine clinical activities with support and
guidance for more complex decision making

What You’ll Need
- Qualification in Psychology
- Registration with the Psychology Board of
Australia (AHPRA)
Desirable:
- Experience or interest in mental
health, youth or forensic settings
- Appointment as, or willingness to work towards,
Authorised Mental Health Practitioner status
