Registered Psychologist
Contractor or Casual Employment | 2–4 Days Per Week | The Gap, Brisbane
Trauma-Informed Mental Health Care
Touchstone Counselling & Supervision is a growing private practice with an office in The Gap,
Brisbane. We provide in person and online trauma-informed mental health care for adults,
couples and families.
We are seeking Registered Psychologists and/or Accredited Mental Health Social Workers to
join our professional team.
Our ideal candidate is passionate about helping people recover from the effects of trauma while
also supporting stronger mental health, relationships, confidence, functioning and quality of
life.
Our clients may be living with childhood adversity, complex trauma, single-incident trauma,
abuse, workplace psychological injury, chronic stress, anxiety, depression, grief, relationship
difficulties or neurodivergence. Some clients come specifically to address trauma; others want
to feel better, function better, improve their relationships or regain a sense of stability and
direction.
We use Focussed Psychological Strategies and other evidence-based therapies to help clients
make meaningful, sustainable change. We are looking for clinicians who combine sound
clinical reasoning and evidence-based strategies with the capacity to build safe, respectful and
effective therapeutic relationships.
Why Join Touchstone?
Touchstone offers the benefits of private practice without the burden of building it alone. You
will be part of a supportive clinical community while retaining flexibility in how you structure
your work.
We offer:
• consistent referrals across Medicare, WorkCover Queensland, NDIS, Open Arms, DVA
and private funding streams
• contractor or casual employment options
• flexible scheduling, with 2–4 days per week available
• administration, systems, clinical templates and practice support
• comfortable consulting rooms in The Gap and telehealth options
• clinical mentoring, supervision and professional development
• a collaborative culture that values curiosity, accountability, respect and ongoing
learning
The Role - You will provide Focussed Psychological Strategies and other evidence-based therapies to
adults, couples and families, in person in our office in The Gap, and via telehealth.
Your work will include clinical assessment, case formulation, treatment planning, therapeutic
intervention, session documentation, reporting and professional communication with referrers
and relevant third-party stakeholders.
You will provide medium- to long-term therapy that supports stabilisation, improved mental
health and functioning, stronger relationships and meaningful progress toward each client’s
goals. Where appropriate, you will help clients address the effects of trauma using evidence
based strategies, while ensuring therapy remains guided by the client’s needs, readiness and
priorities.
You will work with care, consistency and professional accountability, contributing to a practice
known for high-quality clinical work, respectful therapeutic relationships and meaningful
outcomes.
The Kind of Clinician Who Thrives at Touchstone - You are motivated by making a genuine difference in people’s lives. You understand that
meaningful outcomes are supported by a safe, consistent and boundaried therapeutic
relationship.
You are able to hear and work respectfully with difficult experiences, including complex trauma
and respond with compassion and evidence-based strategies that foster autonomy, confidence
and sustainable change.
You value reflective practice, are open to feedback and are eager to continue developing your
clinical knowledge and skills. You are reliable, organised and take pride in high-quality care,
documentation and communication.
Essential Qualifications and Experience • registration as a Psychologist with AHPRA or accreditation as a Mental Health Social
Worker with the AASW
• eligibility for a Medicare Provider Number
• demonstrated experience providing Focussed Psychological Strategies and other
evidence-based therapies for adults, couples and/or families
• experience working with trauma and complex mental health presentations, or a strong
commitment to developing expertise in trauma-informed practice
• strong therapeutic engagement, assessment, case formulation and relationship
building skills
• excellent communication, documentation and organisational skills
• confidence working collaboratively with GPs, WorkCover case managers, NDIS
providers, Open Arms, DVA and other stakeholders
• ability to work both, in person in our office in The Gap, and via telehealth
• commitment to ethical practice, professional boundaries, respect, accountability and
continuous learning.
Training or experience in EMDR, CBT, ACT, Schema Therapy, DBR, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy,
Resource Therapy, Internal Family Systems or other evidence-based trauma approaches will be
highly regarded, but is not essential.
To apply, please send your CV and a one-page cover letter outlining your interest in the role and
how your experience would contribute to Touchstone Counselling & Supervision.
