Looking for a different kind of private practice?
If you've been thinking about private
practice, considering a change, or simply wondering whether there's a different
way to work as a psychologist, we'd love to have a conversation.
Hunter Valley Psychology & Wellbeing
was created with a simple belief: psychologists do their best work when they
feel supported, trusted and genuinely enjoy coming to work.
After years working in private practice
across assessment and therapy, Clinical Psychologist Karen Watson established
Hunter Valley Psychology & Wellbeing with a clear vision—to create a
practice where high-quality client care, professional autonomy and genuine
support for psychologists go hand in hand.
As our referral relationships have
continued to grow, so has demand for our services. We're now looking forward to
welcoming another psychologist to our practice.
What it's like working with us
We know that every psychologist works a
little differently, and we think that's something worth celebrating. One of the
things we pride ourselves on is creating an environment that allows
psychologists to thrive no matter where they are in their career.
Whether you're early in your career as a
psychologist, taking your first steps into private practice or bringing years
of experience, we hope HVPW is a place where you can continue building a career
that's rewarding, sustainable and enjoyable. We genuinely enjoy seeing emerging
psychologists grow in confidence, while also providing an environment where
experienced psychologists can continue doing the work they love in a
supportive, low-stress practice.
Rather than expecting everyone to fit the
same mould, we enjoy helping psychologists build the kind of career that's
right for them.
Whether you're looking for one or two days
each week, or you're hoping to establish a full-time private practice, we'd
love to support you in building a sustainable caseload that reflects your
interests, strengths and professional goals.
Our referrals are diverse, with
approximately 65% adult presentations and 35% children and adolescents,
together with growing demand for couples work. We take the time to thoughtfully
match referrals with each psychologist's interests and experience wherever
possible.
We believe psychologists do their best work when…
·
they have
time to build meaningful therapeutic relationships.
·
they're
trusted to make clinical decisions.
·
they're
supported by colleagues, without feeling micromanaged.
·
they can
develop areas of practice they're genuinely passionate about.
·
administration
doesn't get in the way of good clinical work.
These values have shaped every part of
Hunter Valley Psychology & Wellbeing.

focused, we'd love to hear about them. We see our role as supporting
psychologists to develop the work they find most meaningful, rather than asking
them to fit into a predetermined role.
