About the Role
Great clinical leaders don't just do good work. They make everyone around them better. They mentor, they model, they bring energy to a team meeting, and they help build something that goes from strength to strength. If that's what drives you, keep reading.
As Clinical Lead, your day will span your own client sessions alongside a genuine leadership remit: supervising registrars, developing the team, shaping clinical programs and resources, and building a practice culture people genuinely want to be part of.
This is a senior role with real influence, not just a title. You'll work closely with our director and the broader team to drive the clinical direction of a practice that's growing fast and thinking creatively about what psychology services can look like.
What You'll Be Doing
• Maintaining your own client caseload (~4 sessions/day) across presentations that match your areas of expertise
• Providing individual and group supervision to clinical registrars and provisional psychologists, and the wider team as required
• Leading professional development across the team: case discussions, skill-building, and organising in-house learning
• Contributing to service innovation: group programs, workshops, new offerings, and creative approaches to care. Our "& More" philosophy means genuine scope to diversify your work beyond the consulting room
• Being a consistent, energising presence that contributes to the established, enthusiastic team culture
What You'll Bring
• AHPRA registration as a Clinical Psychologist
• At least 5 years of post-endorsement experience
• Board Approved Supervisor status, or willing to get accredited
• Genuinely motivated by supervising and mentoring others, learning and helping others learn and grow
• Experience in private practice and a feel for what makes it work
• Creative thinking and a willingness to try new things
• Energised by a true team culture that is professional, always striving to learn, improve, support each other and connect, and having fun along the way
What's in It for You
• Competitive salary
• Flexible hours: this is a full-time role (part-time considered for the right candidate), but it doesn't need to be 9 to 5. Structure your week around what works best for you
• Time genuinely built into your role for leadership, supervision, and development, not bolted on as an afterthought
• Real leadership scope: you'll help shape clinical direction, not just follow it
• Variety most roles don't offer: alongside client work, you'll be part of running groups, workshops, assessments, and new service development
• A capable admin and marketing team handling enquiries, scheduling, billing, and practice promotion so you can focus on what you do best
• Streamlined systems and a supportive business structure, without the bureaucracy or corporate overhead
• PD budget and ongoing professional development support
• Two well-resourced Brisbane locations (Graceville and Rocklea)
• $2,000 relocation assistance for interstate candidates
• A tight-knit, high-quality team that genuinely values culture
Working in the Public Sector and Wondering What Else Might Be Out There?
Whether you're at HP6 and looking for a role with more variety, more leadership scope, and fewer constraints, or an HP5 who's ready to step up to the next level, this role is worth considering. The salary sits at the top of HP6 band, and the opportunity to shape both a team and a growing practice is something the public system rarely offers at any level.
About Unburden Psychology
We're a growing private practice in Brisbane offering individual psychology, group programs, and complementary services. The "& More" in our name isn't just a tagline. It's how we think about care and what great psychology practice can look like. We want a Clinical Lead who's excited by growth, not exhausted by it.
We're a genuinely multidisciplinary practice. Alongside psychology, our team includes acupuncture, naturopathy, breathwork, and yoga-based trauma therapy. For a Clinical Lead who believes in whole-person care, it's a pretty unique environment to work in.
